We have three early fixtures across the weekend from the Championship with the first coming from the Coventry Building Society Arena where Coventry will host Stoke. This has been a low scoring game fixture in the past but the homeside are 5th in the table and on a four game winning run so it might be a different story now with Frank Lampard in charge. The homesides run started with a home win against QPR (1-0), then a victory at Sheffield Wednesday (1-2), followed by a win at home against Preston (2-1) and then their last game was a victory away at Oxford (2-3). The homeside have the forward options of Haji Wright who’s scored 7 so far this season or Ellis Simms who has scored 6 currently.
The visitors Stoke won 1-0 when the sides met at the Bet365 Stadium earlier in the season, Mark Robins side are sitting in 20th in the Championship but they have a five point buffer from the drop zone as it stands. They have just one win and draw in their last five games, the victory coming at home to Swansea (3-1) and the other was a goalless game at home to Watford. We aren’t sure where the away side’s goals will come from so a home win looks likely here.
Match Betting at Non UKGC Casinos: Coventry ½, Stoke 5/1 and the Draw 10/3. Kick off Saturday 12.30pm Live on Sky Sports.
The second game comes from Vicarage Road where Watford will host Millwall, the two sides gave us a five goal thriller when they met at the Den with Watford scoring a 90th minute winner to win the game 3-2. Tom Cleverley’s side are 10th in the table but with it being so tight in the top half they are only three points off the play off positions. They are unbeaten in three games, winning away at Middlesbrough (0-1), winning at home to Luton (2-0) and then a draw away at Stoke last weekend (0-0). The homeside will start with top scorer Vakoun Issouf Bayo up top who has scored 10 goals so far this season.
The visitors Millwall are 12th in the table, Alex Neil’s side got knocked out of the last 16 of the FA Cup to Crystal Palace last weekend (3-1) and then also suffered a midweek defeat in the league at home to Bristol City (0-2) so they will hope to bounce back here. With 11 games remaining of the season it looks to be an uphill task to get in the play off places.
Match Betting: Watford 11/8, Millwall 23/10 and the Draw 21/10 Kick off 12.30pm Live on Sky Sports +
We just have the one game from the Championship on Sunday and that comes from Fratton Park where Portsmouth will host top of the table Leeds. The two sides met at the beginning of the season at Elland Road and it finished 3-3. The homeside are 17th in the table after 35 games played and John Mousinho’s side are eight points above the bottom three after a three game winning run in February. They do arrive here on the back of a defeat last weekend away to Luton (1-0) and now playing a side in top form it looks likely to be a tough day at the office for them.
The visitors Leeds are three points clear at the top after a victory away to second place a couple of weeks ago, Daniel Farke’s side’s five game winning run came to a halt last weekend when they could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom. They took an early lead but the away side equalised before half time. The Yorkshire club still have the Championship title in their hands and a victory here looks likely.
