Wednesday 16th April Champions League Betting Preview

We have the remaining two fixtures of the last eight of the Champions League to look at with you. The first of them is from the Bernabeu where Real Madrid welcome Arsenal for the return leg. The winners of last year’s competition Real Madrid are going to need to score three goals at least to be in with a chance of going through, two wonder strikes from Declan Rice helped Arsenal win by 3-0.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have lost their discipline of late with the last two games ending 90 minutes with ten men on the field. They bounced back from their midweek defeat with a victory away from home against Alaves (0-1). The only goal of the game was scored by Eduardo Camavinga who was sent off against the Gunners at the Emirates.

The visitors Arsenal’s last visit to the Bernabeu back in 2006 ended with a 1-0 win where Thiery Henry scored. We expect Unai Emery to start with the same forward three as last week’s win Saka, Merino and Martinelli but they will play more conservatively for the first half an hour in hope of keeping the match at nil nil.

We predict there to be goals in this match though as Madrid have to take the game to the Gunners.

Best odds for this fixture can be found at non UK casinos here: Real Madrid 4/6, Arsenal 4/1 and the Draw 16/5. Kick off 20.00pm Live on TNT Sports 1 .

The second Quarter-Final of the night comes from the San Siro where Inter welcome Bayern Munich for the return leg. We didn’t get the score line we expected in the first leg in Germany with Inter winning 2-1. Lautaro Martinez scored the opener on 38 minutes and it wasn’t until the 85th minute when Bayern equalised thanks to Thomas Muller, they must have thought that was a lucky escape but the away side hit back in the 88th minute with substitute Davide Frattesi scoring with his left foot.

The homeside sit six points clear at the top of Serie A after a home victory against Cagliari at the weekend (3-1), with the chance of a possible treble still on the cards the Italian side will hope to close out this contest with a win in front of their home crowd.

The visitors Bayern Munich won 2-0 when they last played here in the 2022 Champions League and the same scoreline here would be enough to send Vincent Kompany’s side through to the last four of the competition. They didn’t manage to bounce back with a win at the weekend in front of their home fans only getting a draw against Dortmund (2-2) but win five fixtures remaining of the Bundesliga they are six points clear of their nearest rivals Leverkusen.

We expect a close contest here but if an early goal is scored by either side it will certainly open up the contest for the spectators.

Match Betting: Inter 17/10, Bayern Munich 31/20 and the Draw 13/5. Kick off 20.00pm Live on Discovery+.
