We have four fixtures from the Champions League on Wednesday to preview with you football fans, the first of the return legs we will look at is from the Stade Pierre Mauroy where Lille will welcome Dortmund. The French side came from behind to draw 1-1 in the first leg and with a much valued away goal they have the advantage going into this return leg. Bruno Genesio’s side won at the weekend beating Montpellier 1-0 giving them their 8th home game victory of the season.
The visitors Dortmund will know they are up against it after only getting a draw in the first leg, Niko Kovac’s side also lost 0-1 at home to Augsburg at the weekend having dominated possession. That has been the story of the German side’s season so far, they are in 10th with just nine games remaining they really need to put their skates on to be competing in a European competition next season. We expect them to start with Serhou Guirassy (10 goals) and Karim Adeyemi (5 goals) leading the front line.

The second fixture to look at is from the Emirates where Arsenal welcome PSV for their return leg, Mikel Arteta’s side are fully in control of this knockout tie having won 7-1 in Holland. The North London side has suffered with injury woe’s but all three of their forwards got on the score sheet in the first leg, Leandro Trossard, Mikel Merino and Ethan Nwaneri all netted once. The Man of the Match went to captain Martin Odegaard who scored twice and assisted once for his side.
The English side drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday in the Premiership but their only chance of silverware is the Champions League so it will be interesting to see if they rotate the squad having a six goal advantage here.
The visitors PSV will know that they face an extremely uphill task here with Noa Lang the only goal scorer for their side in the first leg, netting from the penalty spot. Peter Bosz’s team won at home at the weekend beating Heerenveen (2-1), with nine games remaining and 8 pts to make up on league leaders Ajax they look likely to finish in second place.

The third tie of the evening comes from Villa Park where Aston Villa welcome Club Brugge for the return leg, Unai Emery’s side won in Belgium 3-1 which means they are in a great position to progress to the next stage of the knockout phase. They also won in the Premiership at the weekend beating Brentford away (0-1) making it three wins on the spin in all competitions. We expect the homeside to start a strong side with Ollie Watkins leading the front line.
The visitors Brugge know they face a challenge as they need to score at least three goals to be in with a chance of progressing to the next round but Nicky Hayen’s side bounced back from their first leg defeat with a victory away to Cercle Brugge at the weekend (1-3). They remain in 2nd in the Pro League but the bird has flown there with Genk nine points clear at the top with just one game remaining of their season. The Belgian side do still have a chance of silverware as they are due to play Anderlecht in the Belgium cup final in May.

The fixture of the night comes from the Civitas Metropolitano where Atletico Madrid face Real Madrid for their second leg affair. Diego Simone’s side lost at the Bernabeu in the first leg and also lost on Sunday in La Liga away to Getafe (2-1) which meant they dropped back down to third in the title race. You can expect them to be a different side here as they know a 1-0 win will be enough to take them to the next round, an early goal in this match will open the contest massively so don’t be surprised if you see a handful of goals here.
The visitors Real Madrid come into the second leg in the driving seat having won 2-1 at their ground, Carlo Ancelotti’s side also won in La Liga on Sunday beating Rayo Vallecano (2-1) and bringing them back to joint top with Barcelona with just eleven games of the Spanish season remaining. We expect Real to start with the same forward line as the first leg with Mbappe and Vinicius Jr up top, their pace will cause their Madrid rivals some issues on the break.
