Thursday 27th March Televised Football Preview

We have you Football fans entertainment for Thursday night sorted with two games available to watch. The first of them is from La Liga where Barcelona host Osasuna, Hans-Dieter Flick’s side are joint top with Real Madrid but the Catalan side have a game in hand so they hope to pick up a victory here and regain a three point cushion at the top of La Liga. Since the start of the year Barcelona have been in unformidable form remaining unbeaten winning an impressive 15 times and drawing 3 games.

They have two home fixtures in La Liga the first being this before they welcome Girona and then they have the second leg Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid away which is 4-4 on aggregate. They also have the first leg of the last eight in the Champions League where they face Dortmund at home shortly after, the Catalan side won the Supercopa de Espana earlier in the year but are still in with a chance of getting another three pieces of silverware this season. They arrive here favorites and are expected to stretch their winning run in La Liga to eight games here.

The visitors Osasuna won’t lie down without a fight though as they beat their opponents 4-2 when they played them at the Estadio El Sadar earlier in the season, Vicente Moreno’s side are 14th in the table currently with six points separating themselves from the relegation zone with 11 games remaining of the season for them. They are without a victory in the league since the beginning of February where they beat Real Sociedad 2-1, since that victory they have drawn three and lost two.

The fixture was postponed just before kick off after a bereavement in the Barcelona medical team but we expect the homeside to put a dominating display of football here in the memory of their first team’s doctor. Kick off 20.00pm Live on Premier Sports Player.

The second of the evenings fixtures is from the Matchroom Stadium where Leyton Orient face Stevenage, the two sides met here in the Football League Trophy earlier in the year where it was the away side who won 1-0 with a own goal being the difference in a tight game. The homeside sit 9th in League One and five points away from the play off places with nine games remaining. Richie Wellens side lost ground on the top six after a run of five defeats but managed to get back on the winning foot with a victory away to Blackpool 2-1 before the International break.

This won’t be an easy match for them but a win here will help their promotion push back on track followed by easier games away at Burton and away at Wigan. We expect Wellen’s to start Charlie Kelman up front with the striker looking to add to his 14 goal tally for the season.

The visitors Stevenage are 13th in the table with seven points adrift of their opponents here, Alex Revell’s side’s form is a bit patchy with victories being hard to come by. They arrive here with two draws and one defeat in their last three fixtures, drawing 1-1 at home to Mansfield also away to Reading and then a defeat away to Birmingham 2-1 between.

The away form has been the let down for Stevenage all season, they are the second lowest scoring side away from home in the league scoring just 12 goals on the road in 18 games this season.

We expect a low scoring game but we expect the homeside to continue their push for a play off position with a win here. Kick off 20.00pm Live on Sky Sports.
