Sunday 23rd February Italian Football Preview

We have four matches from Serie A this Sunday, the first coming from the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium where Como host Napoli, Cesc Fabregas’s side are 14th in the table. They ended their three game losing run with a victory away to Fiorentina (0-2) last weekend. They face a side that beat them 3-1 away earlier in the season.

The visitors Napoli are two points clear at the top of the table with Antonio Conte’s side arriving here without a win in three games. They have drawn away to Roma (1-1), drawn at home to Udinese (1-1) and drawn away to Lazio (2-2). They will be hoping they can out score their opponents here with the powerful Romelu Lukaku up front. Kick off 11.30am.

The second game of the day comes from the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi where Verona host Fiorentina, Paolo Zanetti’s side are 16th in the table and just three points away from the drop zone. They have lost their last two games in Serie A at home to Atalanta (0-5) and away to Milan (1-0). This is going to be a tough game for them but they have the advantage of playing in front of their home fans.

The visitors Fiorentina are 6th in the table and pushing for a European place next season, Raffaele Palladino’s side have also lost their last two games in the league away to Inter (2-1) and at home to Como (0-2). This is expected to be a tight game that could go either way. Kick off 14.00pm.

The third game of the day comes from the Carlo Castellani Stadium with Empoli hosting Atalanta, Roberto D’Aversa’s side are one place above the relegation zone and a win is desperately needed having not won one in ten league games. When they played their opponents earlier in the season it was a 86th minute goal that cost them the match losing 3-2.

The visitors Atalanta are 3rd in the table with five points separating them from top spot Napoli, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side exited the Champions League midweek to Club Brugge losing 5-2 on aggregate. They have won the last two away games in Serie A away at Como (1-2) and away at Verona (0-5) so a victory here is well on the cards.

Match Betting Odds:
Mr Punter – Gambling Site That Accepts Credit Cards: Empoli 11/2, Atalanta ½ and the Draw 16/5. Kick off 17.00pm.

The final game of the day comes from the Unipol Domus where Cagliari host Juventus, Davide Nicola’s side are 13th in the table with just one win in four league games which was at home to Parma 2-1. The two sides met in the Coppa Italia recently where it ended 4-0 to homeside Juventus so the homeside will hope they can gain revenge here.

The visitors Juventus are 4th in the table, Thiago Motta’s side suffered a Champions League exit midweek to PSV but they have won their last three league games. They beat Empoli at home (4-1), Como away (1-2) and Inter at home (1-0). With a ten point gap between them and top of the league Napoli with thirteen games remaining it is a massive ask to get anything more than a place in Europe next season.
