The action from the top flight of English football started at Goodison Park where Everton hosted Man United in the lunchtime kick off, David Moyes’s side were arriving here on the back of a six game unbeaten run in the league while the visitors were without a victory in the last three games in the league. The Merseyside club started strong and it took just 19 minutes for Beto to score making it six goals for him so far this campaign.
The lead was doubled before the first time ended when Abdoulaye Doucoure headed from close range after a very quick counter attack. It looked to be a bad day at the office for the visitors with Everton dominating 2-0 and as short as 1-33 with most European gambling sites, until the 72nd minute when Bruno Fernandes scored from a free kick to the bottom right corner. The Everton two goal lead was diminished with ten minutes to go when defender Manuel Ugarte’s left footed shot went in after a set piece situation. The homeside pushed for a winner but they were denied a 95th penalty shout when VAR ruled out the opportunity, Moyes saw this as dropped points as they were in full control for the majority of the game but it ended 2-2.
The shock result of the day came from the Emirates when Arsenal lost their unbeaten home run in the league to West Ham, Mikel Arteta’s side conceded just before half time when Jarrod Bowen headed home from close range from a fast break with Wan-Bissaka getting the assist. The Gunners were pressing for an equalizer early in the second half until substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly’s yellow card was upgraded to a straight red following a VAR review with 20 minutes remaining.
The Gunners could fall to 11 points behind leaders Liverpool if they win away at the Etihad on Sunday, while the Hammers remained in 16th but are now level on points with Man United.
The other London Derby came from Craven cottage where Fulham hosted Crystal Palace, the homeside had won their last two league games coming into this but unfortunately for supporters a own goal by centre half Joachim Andersen put Palace one up after 37 minutes. The second half started well for both sides, Palace had a Jean-Philippe Mateta goal overturned by VAR in the 55th and then Fulham had a goal disallowed by VAR three minutes later.
With 25 minutes left of the second half Palace doubled their lead with Daniel Munoz scoring from an awkward angle. Fulham dropped to 10th after the defeat.
The final game of the day came from Villa Park with Aston Villa hosting Chelsea, Enzo Maresca’s side got the opening goal after just 9 minutes when Enzo Fernandez scored from very close range. It took an hour for the homeside to get level with Marcus Rashford assisting Marco Asensio, the VAR check confirmed the goal and it was game on.
Both sides pressed for a winner but in the 90th minute the new signing Marco Asensio got his second goal of the game assisted by Rashford again from a corner. The come back was complete and Villa moved to 7th with teams around them due to play Sunday.
