Saturday 8th March La Liga Football Preview

We have four games from Spain’s La Liga to preview with you football fans. The first is from the Municipal de Balaidos Stadium where Celta host Leganes, Claudio Giraldez’s side are 10th in the table with twelve games remaining of the season. The homeside will arrive at this fixture unbeaten in four games, they have won at home to Real Betis (3-2), drew away to Atletico Madrid (1-1), won at home to Osasuna (1-0) and more recently drew away to Girona (2-2).

The visitors Leganes beat their opponents 3-0 when they met at their ground earlier in the season, but Borja Jimenez’s side are currently in 16th and only three points above the bottom three. The away side put an end to a winless five game run with a home victory against Getafe at the weekend (1-0), it wasn’t until the 92nd minute they took the lead so could that goal be a massive goal come the end of the season.

The second fixture will come from the Estadio de Mendizorroza Stadium where Alaves host Villareal, Eduardo Coudet’s side are 19th and with just twelve games remaining they are in a fight for survival. They are only a point away from climbing out the bottom three but they haven’t managed a win in six games, drawing three and losing three. They face a side that they haven’t beaten since 2022 so can they change that here?

The visitors Villareal won 3-0 when the two sides met at their ground earlier in the season, Marcelion’s side are 5th in La Liga and en route for a European place next season. They have won their last two away games against Las Palmas (1-2) and Rayo Vallecano (0-1) as well as a six game unbeaten run home and away. We wouldn’t be surprised to see both sides score in this contest.

The third game of the day is from the Mestalla where Valencia welcome Real Valladolid, the homeside have won the last three contests when the two sides have played here. Carlos Corberan’s side are 18th in the table but a victory here would lift them out of the drop zone. They have drawn two and lost one of their last three games conceding seven goals in the process which has been their issue all season. We expect them to get maximum points here though.

The visitors Valladolid are at the foot of the table and with eight points from safety it looks like they will be facing relegation this season, Alvaro Rubio’s side put an end to their six game losing run with a 1-1 draw at home to Las Palmas at the weekend. This is a tougher opponent here though.

The final game of the day comes from the Nou Camp where Barcelona host Osasuna, Han Flick’s side are top of the table a point clear of Atletico Madrid and three points clear of Real Madrid with 12 games remaining. The Catalans are on a six game winning run scoring 19 goals in the process, they have scored an impressive 71 goals this season in La Liga and this is a great opportunity to increase that here.

The visitors beat Barcelona 4-2 when the two sides met earlier in the season so Vicente Moreno will know what it takes to beat the league leaders. The away side sit 11th in the table but come here without a victory in their last four games, they have drawn three and lost the other away to Celta 1-0. We can expect goals here but can the away side get on the scoresheet?
