Post Match Football Reports From The Premiership

The first game of the weekend involving the teams battling for survival came from the King Power Stadium where second from bottom Leicester hosted Brentford, Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side knew that a win would lift them out of the bottom three until Saturday afternoon at least. The homeside were on the backfoot from the 17th minute when Yoane Wissa scored with his left foot, the away side doubled their lead ten minutes later when Bryan Mbeumo netted from the right side of the box making his tally to 15 goals for this season.

By half time it was 3-0 and Brentford were 1/100 to win the match with all non UKGC casinos, it looked to be a very hard challenge for the Foxes to get anything out of this game, with just one minute to go Thomas Franks side made it four when substitute Fabio Carvalho hit the back of the net.

Wolves who were two points clear from the drop zone had a tough fixture away to Bournemouth made much easier after half an hour when VAR ruled Illia Zabarnyi’s challenge to be a straight red card. Just five minutes later on the 36th minute top club goal scorer Matheus Cunha made it 13 goals for the season. He went on to take Man Of The Match with his side getting three points.

The other club batting for survival is Ipswich who had a home fixture against in-form Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou’s side were looking to make it three wins on the spin after their two cup exits. After just 26 minutes the away side were 2-0 with goals from forward Brennan Johnson, Ipswich managed to get a goal back before half time when Omari Hutchinson lifted the homesides spirits.

The second 45 minutes was quiet till the later stages when Spurs sealed the three points with goals from right back Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski with the match ending 4-1 to Spurs. Ipswich have a trip to Old Trafford next week.

Southampton are all but relegated now but they suffered yet another defeat at home to Brighton where it ended 4-0. They are 13 pts away from safety now with just a dozen games remaining.

Both Leicester and Ipswich need to make up five points on Wolves with the latter having a much superior goal difference, it looks to be a steep uphill for both now.
