Friday 28th February Televised Football Preview

We have three televised contests to preview with you for you football fans, the first coming from Villa Park where Aston Villa host Cardiff in the last 16 of the FA Cup. The two sides haven’t met since the 2018 season when both were playing Championship football. The homeside sit midtable in 10th after a couple of away defeats to Wolves (2-0) and then Crystal Palace at the weekend (4-1). Unai Emery’s side did come from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in their last game at Villa Park with two January signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio being involved in the goals.

The visitors Cardiff are 19th in the Championship with 6 pts separating them from the relegation zone, Omer Riza’s side have drawn two and won one of the last three games. They drew 1-1 to both Bristol City at home and Plymouth away before beating Hull at home 1-0 last weekend. This will be an extremely tough challenge to get by Villa who have lost just one league game here all season.

They will arrive here on the back of two consecutive defeats to Coventry at home (1-2) and Burnley away (4-0). This will be a tough contest for the homeside.

The visitors Sunderland sit 4th in the Championship and look certain for a play off position with 12 games remaining, they are 8 pts away from automatic promotion and 11 pts above 5th place West Brom. Regis Le Bris’s side will also arrive here on the back of two defeats to Leeds away (2-1) and Hull at home (0-1). When the two sides met at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season it ended with a 4-0 victory for Sunderland so can they complete the home and away double?
