Coppa Italia Semi-Finals Football Preview

We have the first legs of the Coppa Italia Semi-Finals to look at with you with the first of them coming from the Carlo Castellani where Empoli will host Bologna, Roberto D’Aversa’s side have a glimmer of hope in what can only be put down as a bad season. They sit 18th in Serie A currently but one victory would lift them out of it at present, that is easier said than done as their last win in the league was the 8th December last year where they beat Verona away from home 1-4.

The homeside have picked up four points since that where all games have ended 1-1 which were away at Venezia, at home to Bologna, away at Genoa and more recently away at Como. They beat Juventus away from home on penalties in the previous round beating them 4-2 but with this being a two leg match now we are struggling to see how they can beat their opponents.

The visitors Bologna have drawn their last two fixtures home and away to Empoli in Serie A but Renato Dall’Ara’s side are a massive 33 pts ahead of them in the table sitting in 4th. They come into this fixture on a five game winning streak which started with a home win against Milan (2-1), then a home victory against Cagliari (2-1), a away victory against Verona (1-2), home thrashing against Lazio (5-0) and then recently a away win at Venezia (0-1).

They beat Atalanta away 0-1 in the previous round scoring late on in a tight game but this game over two legs we think it will be a much more comfortable cup tie. The difference in the current form of the two sides is massive and we wouldn’t be surprised to see an away and home victory for Bologna. Bologna have been price boosted at non UK casinos to 10/11 which looks like some cracking value

Match Betting: Empoli 4/1, Bologna ¾ and the Draw 5/2. Kick off 20.00pm Tuesday Live on Premier Sports Player.

The second Semi-Final comes from the San Siro where AC Milan face rivals Inter, this is a game that could go either way but in the last ten meetings in all competitions it’s Inter that lead with six wins, three defeats and one draw. The homeside AC Milan have won their last two league games away at Lecce (2-3) and at home to Como (2-1) but their overall season hasn’t been great. They sit in 9th position with nine fixtures remaining of the season.

Sergio Conceicao’s side beat Roma 3-1 to get to the last four of this cup with Tammy Abraham getting a brace and Joao Felix coming off the bench to get the other. We can see this two leg contest resulting in some goals but which side will reach the final?

The visitors Inter sit three points clear at the top of Serie A, Simone Inzaghi’s side are on a four game winning run in all competitions winning away at Feyenoord (0-2) in the Champions League, beating Monza at home in the league (3-2), then beating Feyenoord at home in the return leg (2-1) before beating Atalanta away (0-2) in the last game.

They have a Champions League Quarter-Final against Bayern Munich next up and are still in contention for a possible treble. We expect this fixture to throw up some goals but if you go on the form book there’s a 17 pt difference between the two sides in the league so will that show over two legs here?

Match Betting: AC Milan 12/5, Inter 6/5 and the Draw 9/4 Kick off 20.00pm Wednesday Live on Premier Sports Player
