Sunday 9th March Series A Football Preview

We have four fixtures from Serie A on Sunday to preview with you fans, the first comes from the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi where Verona will host Bologna. When the two sides met earlier in the season there were five goals in the game so we are sure to see more of the same here. Paolo Zanetti’s side are 14th in the table but with just four points separating them from the relegation zone they aren’t safe just yet with eleven games of the season remaining. They won 3-2 when the two sides met earlier in the season so can they complete the home and away double?

The visitors Bologna are 6th in the league arriving at this game, Vincenzo Italiano’s side have won their last two fixtures both at home 2-1 to Milan and Cagliari. The last away victory was before Christmas which was a 2-0 win at Torino so can they win their first away fixture for a while here?

The second game to look at comes from the Stadio Diego Maradona where Napoli host Fiorentina, Antonio Conte’s side won 3-0 when the sides met earlier in the season so they will hope to complete the home and away double. They are second in the table but just one point behind Inter with 11 games remaining there’s all to play for. They are desperate for a win as they have drawn four and lost one of their last five league games. 

The visitors Fiorentina are 7th in the table, Raffaele Palladino’s side put a halt to their three game losing run with a victory at home to Lecce at the weekend (1-0). They are two points out of the European places currently so they really need to get a couple of wins together.

The third game of the day comes from the Carlo Castellani where Empoli will host Roma, Roberto D’Aversa’s team won 2-1 when the sides met in Rome but they would love to complete the home and away double as they sit 18th and in the relegation zone as it stands. They have reached the Coppa Italia semi final after beating Juventus 4-2 on penalties for which they have a home fixture against Bologna next month to look forward to. 

The visitors Roma are 8th in the table, Claudio Ranieri’s side have won their last four fixtures in all competitions. They have won their last two league games at home to Monza (4-0) and Como (2-1) but can they get their 4th away win of the season here?

Match Betting: Empoli 3/1, Roma 19/20 and the Draw 12/5 Kick off 17.00pm 

The final game of the day comes from the Allianz Stadium in Turn where Juventus will host Atalanta, Thiago Motta’s side are 4th in Serie A. The homeside just have the league to concentrate on now after an exit in the Champions League and then a defeat in the cup to Empoli. They have six points to chase with just eleven games remaining if they want to be crowned champions. 

The visitors Atalanta are 3rd in the table and three points behind their opponents here, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have won one and drawn one of their last two games. They beat Empoli away 5-0 and drew at home to Venezia 0-0. They are only three points off top spot so a win here would be massive on their challenge to be crowned champions of Italy. The two sides drew 1-1 earlier in the season so will they share the points again?
