Sunday 30th March Spanish La Liga Football Preview

We have five fixtures to look at with you from La Liga on Sunday with the first coming from the Coliseum Alfonso Perez where Getafe will host Villarreal. This is usually a very tight game with four of the last five head to heads ending in draws, Jose Bordalas’s side are sitting safely in mid table with just ten games left there is no worries of going down but also little chance of European football next season.  The homeside do arrive at this fixture on the back of two victories which were at home to Atletico Madrid (2-1) and away to Osasuna (1-2).

The visitors Villareal are 5th in the table and look to be en route for a spot in one of the European competitions next season, Marcelino’s side will need to bounce back here from two consecutive defeats away to Alaves (1-0) and at home to Real Madrid (1-2). With the forward duo of Ayoze Perez (11 goals) and Thierno Barry (8 goals) they certainly have the talent. Kick off 12.00pm Live on Premier Sports.

The second game to look at comes from the Olimpic Lluis Companys where Barcelona will host Girona, the last three fixtures have produced five or more goals so we expect more of the same here. Hans-Dieter Flicks side sit top of La Liga with much superior goal difference and a game in hand over Real Madrid and are looking to stretch their winning league streak to eight games. The homeside arrive at this fixture on the back of a away victory against Atletico Madrid (2-4), they have the second leg Copa del Rey fixture against them in less than a week’s time also where a victory would give them a spot in the final. This looks to be a good opportunity for Robert Lewandowski to add to his 22 goal tally here.

The visitors Girona sit in 13th in the table and Michel’s side arrive at this fixture having drawn their previous three league games. They drew at home to Celta (2-2), drew away to Espanyol (1-1) and then more recently at home to Valencia (1-1). The visitors beat their opponents 4-2 when they played here last season but can they do it again? Kick off 15.15pm Live on Premier Sports.

The next fixture comes from the San Mames where Athletic Bilbao will host Osasuna, the two sides met here in the Copa del Rey here in January where it ended 2-3 to Osasuna. The homeside sit 4th in the table with Ernesto Valverde’s team coming into this fixture on the back of two wins, the first being in the Europa League at home to Roma (3-1) and then more recently away to Sevilla in the league (0-1). They look certain to get in the Champions League but with only four points adrift of the top three a victory here would help massively on their quest to challenge Atletcio Madrid for 3rd.

The visitors Osasuna are 14th in the table with Vicente Moreno’s side only six points above the drop zone with ten fixtures remaining of the season. The visitors are without a league win in five games where they have drawn three and lost two. This looks to be an extremely tough task to get back to winning ways but they will take confidence from the fact they beat the homeside in the cup this season. Kick off 16.30pm Live on Premier Sports.

The next fixture of the day comes from the Mestalla where Valencia host Mallorca, Carlos Corberan’s side sit 16th with just a point keeping them out of the relegation zone. The homeside do arrive here unbeaten in three league games where they have drawn away to Osasuna (3-3), won at home against Real Valladolid (2-1) and then drew away against Girona (1-1). A victory here would be massive for them and give them a bit of breathing space from that drop zone.

They face a side in Mallorca though that sit in 7th place, Jagoba Arrasate’s side arrive here unbeaten in six fixtures where they have won two at home to Las Palmas (3-1) and Espanyol (2-1). The other four ended in 1-1 draws which is not good enough with there being a four point gap currently to reach the top six and get into Europe next season.

The final fixture of the day comes from the Benito Villamarin where Real Betis will welcome Sevilla, this fixture is usually a tight affair but the homeside sit in 6th place and on a five game winning run in La Liga. Manuel Pellegrini’s side have really been playing with confidence scoring 11 goals in total and with the playmaker Isco in the side they are a threat to any side.

The visitors Sevilla sit in 10th and 8 pts adrift of their opponents here. García Pimienta’s side arrive here looking to bounce back from a home defeat to Athletic Bilbao (0-1), they have been involved in some tight encounters as of late and we expect the same here.
