Saturday 29th March Televised English Football Preview

We have just the two domestic fixtures across Britain on Sky this weekend with it being FA Cup weekend. The first fixture to look at comes from the Championship where Watford will host Plymouth at Vicarage Road,  this fixture resulted in a 2-2 draw earlier in the season so can we expect more of the same here. The homeside sit in 10th in the table and with only eight games left of the season Tom Cleverley’s team need to get a move on if they want to get in the playoff places, they have five points to make up currently so a few back to back wins will help their chances.

They have just one victory in their last four Championship games which came at home to Swansea (1-0), the others resulted in a draw away at Stoke (0-0), a defeat at home to Millwall (1-2) and then a away loss to Oxford more recently (1-0). We expect the experienced Moussa Sissoko to captain the side who is coming to the latter stages of his career at 35 years old.

The visitors Plymouth sit at the foot of the table, Miron Muslic’s side are six points from safety now. Since their shock victory at home to Liverpool (1-0) in February they have managed just two wins at home to Millwall (5-1) and away at Portsmouth (1-2). They drew away at Luton and at home to Cardiff both 1-1 and then they have lost the other four fixtures which were away at Blackburn (2-0), away at Hull (2-0), at home to Sheffield Wednesday (0-3) and then at home to Derby (2-3) where they clawed back from two down to then conceded a 88th minute goal.

It looks like Plymouth are massively running out of time to escape the drop but a victory here would be massive in their quest for Championship football next season. Kick off 12.30pm Live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Best odds for the this fixture can be found at gambling sites without verification: Watford 4/6, Plymouth 4/1 and the Draw 11/4.

The other game comes from the Scottish Premiership where Dundee FC host Rangers at Dens Park, Tony Docherty’s side have never beaten their opponents. The head to head reads two draws and eight losses. The homeside have three league games left to play and they look likely to escape relegation albeit not mathematically definite yet, they put a halt to their eight game winless run with a victory away to their local rivals Dundee Utd away winning the game 4-2.

This looks to be an extremely tough game to get anything from but they might be able to get on the scoresheet.

The visitors Rangers could only manage a 1-1 draw when the sides met here earlier in the season but Barry Ferguson’s side look to be the much stronger side. They will arrive here in good spirits having beaten Fenerbahce 3-2 on penalties to set up a Quarter Final tie with Athletic Bilbao next. Although the league title is in Celtic hands again the Glasgow side did score a 88th minute winner to beat them 3-2 at Celtic Park in the last league game. The two goal lead was taken back but that late winner sent their fans home happy.

We expect the visiting side to play with confidence and get the win here.

Match Betting: Dundee FC 6/1, Rangers 3/10 and the Draw 9/2 Kick off 17.30pm Live on Sky Sports Main Event.
